Former six-time World Champion – and former OVW Heavyweight Champion – Dave Bautista will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on Thursday, April 2, at the Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay, FL.
Batista’s accolades include holding the World Heavyweight Championship on four occasions and winning the WWE Championship twice. “The Animal” has also had three reigns with the World Tag Team Championship and is a former WWE Tag-Team Champion. Added to that, Batista is one of the few men who has won the WWE Royal Rumble twice – in 2005 and again in 2014.
Dave Batista made his OVW debut in 2000 as Leviathan, a member of the Disciples of Synn. Batista trampled every competitor OVW put in front of him during his time here, including taking the OVW Heavyweight Championship from “The Machine” Doug Basham on November 29, 2001.
Batista’s reign with the OVW Title lasted 84 days as he would lose the championship to another familiar name, “The Prototype” – known today as John Cena – on February 20, 2002. Batista made his WWE debut proper alsongside Reverend D-Von in May of 2002 and would be a member of Evolution before breaking free of Triple-H and carving his own niche in wrestling history.
Congratulations to OVW Alumni Dave Bautista on his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame!
